There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later. This worked very well for me. After a big computer crash I put a new hard drive in my Acer Aspire laptop. It is also nice to have your own DVD of Windows 7, which places like Fry's don't include with your computer purchase anymore. It was a smooth install, like butter. The DVD is white color with black lettering on it. It says intended for distribution with a refurbished computer PC.
It includes Service Pack 1 on it, which it automatically installs. It is 64 bit. It comes in a clear plastic DVD case. It has a small piece of paper inside with the product key. If you have good eyesight no problem, otherwise you will need a magnifying glass to read it. Fortunately the install never even asked for the product key, it just installed without it. Based on how well it installed with no hassles I have to give it a 5 star review.
My only problem was that after ordering it took about 4 days before they shipped. Most Amazon prime ship pronto, but this took a little longer. Other than that, it was a nice purchase and I am very happy with the product. I ordered this directly from Amazon, not from a third party seller.
The installation was as smooth as buttah. My graphics programs and all my other programs run VERY noticeably faster on the bit version than on the bit version. I'm almost certain I'll upgrade to Windows 10 when it launches an overwhelming majority of beta-testers have very favorable reviews of Windows Yay for me and for all Windows 7 users!
Goodbye Vista. Hello Windows 7. I was a little worried about the whole process of upgrading my computer. I nearly bought an entirely new system but in the end, the price tag on the Windows 7 upgrade was more appealing than the price tag on an entirely new system. Some antivirus software might prevent SP1 from installing or slow down the installation.
You can temporarily disable your antivirus software before the installation. Follow the instructions to install the update. If any important updates are found, select the link to view available updates. Install any important updates and then follow these steps again to check for SP1.
Select Install updates. You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice. After SP1 is installed, sign in to your PC. You might see a notification indicating whether the update was successful. If you disabled your antivirus software before the installation, make sure you turn it back on. Go to the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 download page on the Microsoft website. Select Install Instructions to see which packages are available for download, and make note of the one that you need.
Verified purchase: Yes Condition: New. This system is very reliable and most resembles XP, which was a very good system. IE - 11 occasionally is unable to finish an operation, tells you so and then resumes. Not a big problem. This Win version can be upgraded to Win 10 at no cost.
Think hard before you convert. Look at someone's computer which has Win 10 on it before you get rid of a good system like this one. Be sure to get SP 1 version of Windows 7. Sp1 took care of a lot of things. I was happy with vista, but then when win 10 came out and microsoft said that in the future, help with all other systems would cease, and that if you had win 7 you could get win 10 free, I bought win 7 at a decent price in order to get the win 10 upgrade free.
I installed these updates on two era HP Vista laptops one dual core and one single core. The dual core went very smoothly but the single core had a problem detailed below.
